In helping professions, burnout isn’t simply about exhaustion! It’s often a sign of being under-resourced in systems that demand more than they sustain.

This workshop invites professionals, leaders and teams in the mental health, community & social service, advocacy and non-profit sectors to explore what burnout really means and how to move toward ethical, sustainable practice.

Grounded in the work of Vikki Reynolds, Gabor Maté, Brené Brown, and adrienne maree brown, this interactive session reframes burnout as both a systemic and spiritual concern, not a personal failing!

Together, we explore:

  • The difference between burnout, moral distress, and spiritual pain, and why sustainability is a collective responsibility.

  • Shame and self-criticism as barriers to self-compassion and recovery.

  • How trauma, chronic stress, and social injustice shape our capacity to stay present in our work.

  • Practical, evidence-informed strategies for completing the stress cycle and cultivating collective care.

  • The role of pleasure, power and boundaries in sustaining hope, creativity and integrity in the work.

Participants leave with tools for restoring balance — in their bodies, relationships and organizations — and a renewed sense of connection to their purpose, community and ethics of care.

Compassionate Communication in the Workplace

Workplaces thrive when people feel safe, valued and heard.

My Compassionate Communication in the Workplace workshop is an interactive training designed for professionals, leaders and teams who want to build healthier communication practices, reduce conflict and strengthen collaboration.

Grounded in Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead™ framework and trauma-informed, anti-oppressive approaches, this workshop helps participants:

  • Understand how shame shows up in professional settings and how it impacts team dynamics.

  • Learn and practice the five core skillsets of empathy.

  • Explore the seven elements of trust that support both self-trust and relational trust.

  • Use curious, open-minded conversation starters and communication skills to navigate difficult situations.

  • Apply a practical checklist for offering engaged feedback in a way that fosters accountability and growth.

  • Develop tools for building resilience when receiving feedback, including grounding strategies and self-talk practices.

Through guided reflection, group discussion, and scenario-based practice, participants leave with practical tools they can apply right away, when leading teams, navigating conflict, or engaging in honest, values-based dialogue with colleagues and stakeholders.

This workshop is especially supportive for organizations in the social services, mental health, non-profit, advocacy, and community care sectors, where emotional labour, systemic stressors, and high-stakes decisions often shape workplace culture.

Rage and shame are deeply connected emotions that often surface in therapeutic work — sometimes directly, but more often in disguised, protective forms.

This workshop is designed for mental health professionals, leaders, staff and teams who want to deepen their understanding of how these two emotions interact and learn how to recognize, hold and work through them in themselves and in their clients.

Grounded in the research of Brené Brown on shame and wholehearted living and Ruth King’s work on healing rage, this workshop explores:

  • How rage and shame manifest in clients’ inner worlds and relationships, and how they often reinforce each other in cycles of protection and pain.

  • The six disguises of rage (dominance, dependence, devotion, defiance, depression, and distraction) and their corresponding shadow forms.

  • The ways in which shame can silence rage or turn it inward, creating barriers to connection, expression and healing.

  • Tools for working through both emotions and reflective practices that support emotional regulation and compassion.

  • Approaches for integrating these practices into trauma-informed clinical or team-based settings.

Participants will leave with a more nuanced understanding of rage and shame in their clients, as well as practical, trauma-informed strategies to help clients transform these emotions into insight, boundaries and growth.
